11 Bang Bang Films

So here is some good news: I am starting a production company, named 11 Bang Bang Films, with my very good friend Ken Anthony and Nil Patel.  Nil is a guy we met to discuss about him doing photography for Dumbsaints and quickly realized that Nil had to play a bigger roll. He is a smart and talented cat, who will make a huge impact. He will be responsible for marketing, distribution and branding.

Right now we have a short film called Dumbsaints and the feature film on sex trafficking and combat veteran issues. I am writing the feature and Dumbsaints was written by the very accomplished Casey Mensing whom I have known for 20 years.  11 Bang Bang will soon be known for putting out amazing and powerful work. We are developing a 5 year plan and are very confident we will become a serious film company.

We want to find a forth partner who is a female filmmaker to join us. As you may know, I am committed to bringing and supporting female filmmakers into the business.  She needs to be an ambitious producer or producer/director  that thinks big and wants to succeed living in the Tampa Bay or Southeast area of the country.

We want to not only produce film content, but look into developing and producing long form storytelling whether it is for TV or the web.  We also may look into ventures like comic books or graphic novels, but whatever we do, we want to put great content.

13 nov 2015 post.

Hey all, I hope you all are doing well. As for me, I am hanging in there. Got some painting last week and plan to get a lot more done this week. As far as the film goes last week I got pulled from every direction. I am in a situation where I help a lot people, which has been taking up my time. Grrrrr.  This is also why I didn’t get to write last week. But time management is always going to be an issue for you. Fear not though there is a lot of helpful articles out there for you to read.

What else is going on? I was contacted by an actress that I have followed for years contacted me about my feature film an well as my idea for a TV series. She is out in LA and is working with some producers. We will see what happens. So I really need to bust my ass and get these projects done.

How to find an agent.

I was at the website Producer Founder and came across these two blog post on finding an agent. The firsts one is called 3 Things to Prepare Before Calling a Hollywood Agent. Very common sense things. First and foremost a great script. As I have said in the past 80% of good film is the script. Them after that is doing your research on actors and then figuring out what you can afford to pay them.

Then the second blog post, How to Talk to Agents About Your Movie,  is about contacting agents and how you should go about doing that. It is common sense, be professional and be nice. Don’t be pushy and don’t waist their time.  If you get a no from them, move on.

I hope this helps.

The quick update of 8 June 15

So I haven’t been on here is a while. Since March I think.  Anyways, here is what is going on, I had stopped working on film for a while, but now I am back at it. I am back to researching and developing my film on sexual violence and combat veteran issues, as well as starting to do character bio’s.  I am also planning my production company that I want to start when the screenplay is finished and it is time to raise capital to make it.

I am also going to be working on a some ideas for series that will be either for TV or the web. If I do a web series, it is with the hope that it does well enough to gain the attention of a network. Hi HBO. I heart you.  I have a few ideas in mind, one of which is set here in Tampa and uses the Tampa Bay and its people as a back drop. Tampa has a great music and art scene. As far as the film scene goes it lacks desperately. You have a lot of monkeys with cameras running around making substandard films. But, thankfully,  there are a few talented people making interesting, quality work.

I also have started to paint again. What got me going again is that I was commissioned to do a piece. This has gotten back to painting a series of paintings. I plan on having enough work done to be in a show in about 4 to 6 months as well as having the feature written and the production company ready to go.  Once I have this all ready to go I plan on putting this out to the media. And those people who know what happened regrading the film on sexual violence and the ordeal I suffered know that this will be a big deal.

If you want to talk about investing in either my projects or production company let’s talk. Contact me at timschroyer@gmail.com.

Sex trafficking/combat veteran film update

Hey all, I hope you are well. I slugging away on the research on my feature. There is so much reading involved. Dear lord. But you know you need to research the subjects you’re writing about. Yes, it takes time but you will write a better screenplay, book, or article. Also you are less likely to get called out for getting it wrong. And for me that would be the worst thing that would be said about my work.

So I would say that bringing awareness to the subjects of the sex slave trade and combat veteran’s issues is my main goal with my film. I was talking to a guy the other night and I told him that the average age that a prostitutes enter the business in 13. He was shocked. With my film I want to educate Americans of a horrible truth. The more awareness on this subject the better.

So I realized I do not write enough. I really need to delicate more time to it. I have 3 blogs: this one, my personal blog and a social and political one. I have lots to say and enjoy doing them. I also think that I can contribute to the filmmaking and art community.

What producers need to know about screenwriters. Find the right one for your story.

I was the twitter today and came across a Film Courage tweet about new videos that they put up, so I began to watch an interview with Vicki Peterson, Barbara Nicolosi about what mistakes screenwriters make with their first screenplay. The big thing I took from the interview was that not all screenwriters are suited for all types of screenplays. Now there are a lot of factors as to why this is, but if you are a producer you need to know this so that you can hire the right screenwriter for your story. You don’t want to waste your time on a screenwriter that isn’t suited to deliver the screenplay you need.  I never considered that, but it makes perfect sense.

I will be writing my first screenplay here soon and I think I can pull it off, but I must be aware and honest with myself that if I find myself not being the right kind writer for my screenplay then I need to go find one who is.

Also, Barbra and Vicki wrote a book that just came out that you will want to check out called “Notes to Screenwriters” which you can find on Amazon.

Here is the video from  Film Courage I was taking about. It is about six minutes but well worth the watch.
